The United States Marine Corps specialty is the execution of naval landings. In this role, the corps played a key role in the Pacific during World War II. Nowadays, Marine troops usually fight alongside ground troops of the U.S. Army as mechanized infantry. USMC soldiers are often targeted for the toughest sections of combat.
