The 2ND MARINE DIVISION CHALLENGE COIN offered is an official product licensed by the United States Marine Corps,part of the Patriotic Collector's Series. The license is certified by the Department of the Navy hologram sticker on the packaging.

The 2nd U.S. Marine Division gained notoriety during World War II, distinguishing themselves in the battles for Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa. Part of it was also stationed in Iceland.

In modern times, the 2nd Division participated in operations in Kosovo, Kuwait, Haiti, Iraq, Afghanistan.

The scarlet-gold insignia focuses on the torch-holding hand, with the stars of the Southern Cross constellation, as a reference to the battle for Guadalcanal island during the Pacific War.
