The U.S. national flag consists of white stars (50 since July 4, 1960) on a blue canton with a field of 13 alternately lined stripes, 7 red and 6 white. 50 stars means 50 states of union, and 13 bars indicate the original 13 states. The ratio of width to length of the flag is from 10 to 19.
