The Master Combat Infantryman Badge (MCIB) is a new U.S. Army award, authorized in mid-2025, for service members who have earned both the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) and the Expert Infantryman Badge (EIB).
Master Combat Infantry First Award insignia is an original badge manufactured in the U.S.A. in accordance with applicable U.S. Government specifications.
The Master Combat Infantryman Badge (MCIB) is a new U.S. Army award, authorized in mid-2025, for service members who have earned both the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) and the Expert Infantryman Badge (EIB). This gold-wreathed device recognizes infantrymen who demonstrate both exceptional combat experience and mastery of infantry skills. The MCIB closes a regulatory gap that previously prevented soldiers with both the CIB and EIB from wearing both badges simultaneously. Before the MCIB, soldiers who earned both the CIB and EIB had to choose which to wear, as regulations did not allow for both to be worn together.
The MCIB is identical to the full-color CIB but features a gold wreath instead of the traditional silver wreath.
The MCIB provides a singular, prestigious device to represent the combined achievements of mastering the difficult tasks of the EIB and surviving combat as required for the CIB.
The MCIB is retroactive to November 11, 1943, for eligible personnel.
