Marine Corps Rifle Sharpshooter Qualification Badge is an original badge manufactured in the U.S.A. in accordance with appropriate U.S. Government specifications. Approved by the U.S. Marine Corps.
The service rifle is the primary tool by which an individual Marine obtains dominance over the enemy and neutralizes the effects of enemy weapons. To that end, the Marine Corps Combat Rifle Program progresses the individual Marine from the fundamentals of marksmanship to advanced combat shooting by ensuring service standards are reviewed, practiced, and evaluated. The objective at the completion of training is the Marine’s ability to competently and effectively employ the service rifle under varying conditions.
Badge is awarded based on the score achieved on Combat Rifle Program (CRP) training. The total points earned determines the classification of the badge (expert, sharpshooter, marksman).
Classification scores achievable during the CRP Qualification Course (from highest to lowest):
Expert: 305 - 350
Sharpshooter: 280 - 304
Marksman: 250 - 279
Niekwalifikowany: 0 - 249
Typically, enlisted personnel up to the rank of staff sergeant, and officers up to the rank of captain, re-qualify with the rifle annually (ART - Annual Rifle Training). The intent of ART is to sustain, improve, and evaluate marksmanship skills to include demonstration of proficiency in fundamental marksmanship skills and combat shooting skills.
The most recent qualification score determines the badge that is worn. If a Marine achieves the qualification of expert multiple times, a clasp is hung between the brooch and the pendant of the appropriate badge denoting the number of subsequent awards.
